Florida State College for Women offered a variety of socially acceptable sciences for female study – botany, nutrition, and home economics – as well as traditionally masculine disciplines, such as astronomy, chemistry, microbiology, and physics. Despite controversy surrounding alleged evolution-based education in the 1920s, the College established the framework for a science program that would only grow in the coming years.
